Thompson v. Clark
Larry Thompson sued police for malicious prosecution under Section 1983 after his criminal case was dismissed without explanation. The Supreme Court ruled that to bring such a claim, a plaintiff only needs to show that their criminal proceeding ended without a conviction, rather than having to affirmatively prove their innocence.
